Structure:

The course will be divided into 8 parts.  The first 6 parts come from the Bruice text and the last 2 parts come from a text on my Biochemistry Site Index.  After each part is covered in class a ten-point open-homework multiple-choice quiz will be given.  Quiz problems will be taken directly from assigned homework problems in the text.  Quizzes are mandatory and must be taken in class.  They can be made up in emergencies by getting a third party to write me a note explaining the emergency circumstances.  They should be made up QUICKLY, but CANNOT be made up after July 22.  A 40-point final exam is comprehensive, closed-book, and closed-homework.  It has problems similar to, but not identical to, homework problems.

Grading:

Quizzes will be worth a maximum of 60 points out of a 100-point course total.  Each quiz problem is worth one point until 60 points have been earned, after which no further quiz points can be earned.  The breakdown is below:

Quizzes:

60%

Final:

40%

At the end of the session scores will be totaled, and grading will be done using a standard university scale, as outlined below:

096 - 100  A+

090 - 095  A

087 - 089  A-

Problems:

Please bring questions or problems to me in person.  Do NOT email me.  It takes far too long to answer questions by back-and-forth emails and I wonÕt even attempt to do so.  Phone me with simple questions or see me in person.
