Structure:

This course will cover the material found in chapters 1-13 of “Organic Chemistry”, 11th ed., by T.W. Graham Solomons, et. al. (“the text”).  You will encounter four mandatory 15-question, 15-point exams (1 point per question), each covering 3 - 4 chapters of text material at various points throughout the course of the semester.  A 20-bonus-point Mechanism Exam will be given near the end of the semester to help you recover lost points from the other 4 exams.  All exams must be taken in class.  No makeup exams will be given without written documentation of unavoidable (ie. emergency) circumstances.  Makeup exams should be taken ASAP, but will not be given after July 27.  The course will conclude with a 40-question, 40-point mandatory cumulative final exam.  All exams except the Mechanism Exam are written in 5-part multiple-choice format, and you will be required to bring large scantron forms (8.5 x 11” size, available in Bookstore) to each exam, as these will not be provided.  At the end of the session scores will be totalled, (Course Total: 100 points) and grading done using the following scale:

Problems:

Please bring questions or problems to me in person.  Do NOT email me.  It takes far too long to answer questions by back-and-forth emails and I won’t even attempt to do so.  Phone me with simple questions or see me in person.
